GOTHAM CITY BACKLOT
Los Angeles, California
Six Flags Entertainment Corporation
The Six Flags Magic Mountain Gotham City Backlot renovation is now complete. The project was designed and developed by Mark Krukiel for Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. The backlot renovation showcases Batman the Ride, a state of the art roller coaster featuring an inverted track and numerous spirals and loops. The renovation utilizes memorabilia and visual references to Batman the Movie, a product of Warner Bros. Entertainment. The entrance to Batman the Ride and adjacent attractions resemble industrialized components of a decaying metropolis. The menacing art deco facades utilize vivid color palettes of yellow, purple and black. Gotham City Gear Works is a focal element of the renovation and denotes the entrance to Gotham City Backlot.
Mark Krukiel utilizes environmental graphics in concert with music and lighting technology as a means of infusing architecture with personality and theatrical presence. His retail and entertainment clients are encouraged to utilize the full spectrum of services -- architectural design, environmental graphics and marketing related publications. He is aware of how graphics and architecture intermingle and the design value that is achieved through their strong integration.
