The granite motor court at the Sinar Mas / Plaza BII complex acts as a symphonic prelude to the voluminous entrance lobby and 32-story main tower. A technological plaza feature designed in conjunction with WET ENTERPRISES produces computer-controlled pellets of water that shoot into the air and create harmonious sounds upon impact. The 64 water jets are located anonymously in the granite court following an outline established by the curved and faceted entrance facade.
At the motor court, the dynamics of the towering structure above are transformed into a crescendo of physical phenomenon. Stainless steel fins and a cantilevered crown are symbolically extruded from the red granite rock. In addition, steel trellis elements are visually propelled from the side entrance loggias to envelop the participants in the entrance symphony.
The articulated corner geometry of the 32-story main tower is repeated in the telescoping steel and granite trellis supports that surround the primary motor court. This geometry is the basis for the majority of granite and architectural steel details that permeate the project.
The Sinar Mas / Plaza BII primary entrance lobby, harmonious with inherently rich and intricately detailed Indonesian Architecture, is an opulent reflection of the tower for which it provides entry. The entrance space utilizes paving incorporating polished Imperial Red granite surrounded by the same material in a flamed finish and encapsulated in a polished Dakota Mahogany granite border. Thin horizontal granite bands at the wall surfaces are proportional to the larger bands that encompass the tower's skin and act as scalar references to the tower's magnitude.
